An ANC Councillor was arrested for money laundering in Beaufort West, Western Cape, on Tuesday, 6 April, after he was allegedly caught running a loan-shark business. The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Daylin Mitchell, the speaker of the provincial legislature and the party’s Constituency Head in Beaufort West, commented on the arrest on Wednesday, 5 April.

“South Africans have become used to the way in which the ANC deals with cases of criminality within their ranks. We will closely monitor this matter, and call on the ANC to act decisively and not sweep this under the rug,” said Mitchell.
