Do the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) plan to do away with structures of SA provinces? According to the party’s leader Julius Malema, if the EFF is victorious come the 2024 national elections, they plan to get rid of provincial premiers, members of executive councils (MECs) and legislatures, in a bid to cut South Africa’s costs.

Malema was speaking to Phemelo Motene on Kaya 959 and responded to a question about how the EFF plans to manage South Africa’s money. The leader of the Red Berets bemoaned the wasting of taxpayers on premiers, MECs and deputy ministers.

On the issue of SA provinces, Malema punted this idea to save and better utilise the country’s resources: dismantle provincial structures.
