Italian Club in Cape Town: Fun events this December

Here are all the events happening at the Italian Club Cape Town this December, where you can join in on family fun days and festive celebrations.

The Italian Club Cape Town (ICCT) was established in the 1960’s as a meeting place for Italians in a home-away-from-home for Italian immigrants in the city. In 2019, this thriving social hub is hosting several events which all are encouraged to join in on. Here’s a look at what to expect at the ICCT this December.

Italian Club Events

14 December: Kiddies Christmas Party

Father Christmas is Cape Town just in time for the annual Kiddies Christmas Party. There is a lot of fun planned for the day, from jumping castles to face painting, cookie decorations, a water slice and delicious food. Parents are asked to bring a present for Father Christmas to give their kids during the party. 

The costs is R60 for members children and R110 for everyone else. 

25 December: Christmas Day Lunch

Christmas lunch is a cornerstone event at the Italian Club. There is a delicious menu planned, including Antipasto Misto (imported and locally cured meats with caprese salad), a first course of either traditional lasagne or tagliatelle Napoletana, a second course of Pizzaiola di Pollo (oven baked chicken) and for dessert, there will be a buffet selection of sweet treats.

The prices are R290 for members, R350 for non-members and R140 for kids under 12. Booking and payments need to be made prior to the event, which will be on from 12h30 – 17h00.

31 December: New Year’s Eve Party

The theme for this year’s annual New years’s Eve Party is Casino Royale – a tribute to James Bond. Dance 2019 away and to jump into 2020 with a bang at this party. The price includes a four-course meal, which includes cannelloni, beef fillet with mushroom sauce and a dessert buffet. When the hunger strikes after midnight, fret not as there will be a 2am pasta buffet. Resident DJ Ciro-Luck will be handling the music for the evening. 

The prices are R420 for members, R500 for non-members, R210 for kids 11 and under, and anyone under 3 enter for free.Bookings and payments need to be made proir to the event, which will be on from 19h00 on 31 December 2019.

The Club

Visitors are welcome to head to the club for an espresso. The atmosphere is one geared towards family, where children can play in a safe and welcomed environment. The club caters to diverse interests and is home to a restaurant that has weekly speicals. The La Bottega Deli is stocked up with Italian favourites, from Panettone to Pandoro, open Tuesdays – Sundays. 

It is no secret that Italians are football fanatics. The Italian Club has a rich footballing history, even having hosted the IFA European Club League. The club is currently in the process of reviving that tradition by restoring the field. Soon, Italian sides will be formed to play in local leagues. Colin Gie, Cape Town’s football legend and European scout will be heading the project.
