DOMESTIC FLIGHTS

The narrow-body Embraer ERJ 145 jet will be used for scheduled flights between Harare and tourist hotspot Victoria Falls.

This service is important since it opens up the magnificent Victoria Falls to international travellers.

REGIONAL ROUTE

The Boeing 737 which was last operated in 2016, has undergone refurbishment. It will be used for the airline’s flights to Tanzania.

According to the Herald, the newly refurbished aircraft will operate flights between Harare and Dar es Salaam.

AIR ZIMBABWE

Air Zimbabwe launched a turnaround plan a few years ago but the airline has not made huge strides in this regard.

The success of a turnaround depends on factors such as service reliability and customer service.

The airline aims to rebuild its route network. The new planes should put Air Zimbabwe in a better position to improve reliability as well as the frequency of flights.

TOURIST DESTINATION

Zimbabwe is a favoured tourist destination among South Africans. The country is visa-free for South African passport holders.

As well as its famous natural wonder, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is also home to several other UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

These include Matopos, the Khami Ruins and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins.
