According to a reliable source, WA Beta Info, WhatsApp is continuing to work on new features, such as Boomerang videos and dark mode.

Please note, these features aren’t available yet, despite some users claiming that it was added to the WhatsApp Beta functionality. According to the source, WhatsApp will roll out the features to Android and iPhone users in due course.

WhatsApp Boomerang

Most netizens will be familiar with Instagram’s Boomerang videos, which allows users the functionality to loop a video or convert a video to a GIF if it lasts longer than seven seconds.

According to the source, Boomerang videos – when it eventually comes to the WhatsApp platform – could be shared as a WhatsApp status, or directly with friends.

There’s no word on a release date for the feature. But it would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the platform; given its popularity on Instagram and how popular the WhatsApp Status feature is

Dark mode

Talks about WhatsApp’s ‘dark mode’ has been doing the rounds since mid-2018, and WhatsApp users are getting impatient. However, a release date has not yet been confirmed.

Facebook Messenger already adopted dark mode; giving users hope that it would come to WhatsApp soon given that Facebook owns WhatsApp.

Apart from dark mode’s visual appeal, the functionality will make chatting easier. In addition, it will reduce strain on users’ eyes at night while also increasing your phone’s battery life.

Memoji

Memoji, a new form an Animoji, was introduced to Apple back in 2018. Through the Memoji function, users can create and customise to their heart’s content.

WhatsApp will finally embrace Apple’s Memoji with its upcoming update. The feature will be available to WhatsApp’s iPhone users, specifically for iPhone X, XR and XS on iOS 13.

The Memoji update will be available in the next version on the App Store, the 2.19.90 official update. Sorry, Android users, you’re sitting this one out.

Albums and Grouped Stickers for WhatsApp Web

In addition to the above, WhatsApp Web is also developing a new feature called ‘Albums‘. Users will be able to group more items – such as photos and videos – in a single bubble.

The feature has been available on WhatsApp mobile since 2018; it’s about time that functionality should also be available through WhatsApp Web.
