Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 patch is here: What you need to know

The latest Fortnite patch from Epic Games is huge as it brings in the brand new Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle pass.

Epic Games announced on Fortnite’s website that Season 4 “is starting with a bang”. There are heaps to discover and a tonne of new ways to play. Epic confirmed in the press release:

“Shards of a massive comet have crashed into the map altering the landscape. Discover gravity-defying Hop Rocks and find new ways to play. Jump in and witness the aftermath of the impact while you level up your Battle Pass and earn all-new loot”.

This follows just days Epic took their legal battle with Apple to the next level by announcing the #FreeFortnite tournament. Spoiler alert, Apple wasn’t invited. At the time, Epic announced:

“If you’re left behind on iOS after the Chapter 2 – Season 4 launch, the party continues on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, GeForce Now, and through both the Epic Games App and the Samsung Galaxy Store”.

The Epic Team also called on their community to “join the fight against Apple on social media by using the hashtag #FreeFortnite. If you have a few hours to spare, feel free to peruse that hashtag…

The latest patch is huge as it brings in the brand new Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle pass, which we now know is going to be a Marvel and Fortnite crossover. They’ve even created an up to date comic book.

When was the patch released

The Fortnite Season 14.00 Patch went live on 27 August 2020 and if you haven’t got it yet, you’ll need to create some space on your hard drive. As we know, the 14.00 patch will not be available on Apple devices.

Epic’s current legal battle with Apple states that the latter is anti-competitive in not allowing companies to introduce their own payment options. Epic believes it is wrong for Apple to collect a 30% cut out of any payment developers make

Battle Royale

The Season 4/Battle Pass includes 100 tiers and more than 100 rewards. In the new season, the developers say that “completing challenges after reaching tier 100 in the Battle Pass will grant you 100 Seasonal XP per star.”

In addition to that, Fortnite also announced that “shards of the comet have crashed [and many] locations have been transformed by its impact. That means a new map with new points of interest to discover.

You’ll also have a chance to join Spitfire and Lok as they investigate the comet and gear up to recruit a team of superheroes. Don’t forget about the loot drops when you defeat the Husks.

Epic confirmed that enemies “now have a chance to drop building materials, crafting ingredients, ammo and in some cases schematics when eliminated”. Known issues that have been fixed, include:
