After a stellar breakthrough above the $12,000 support level, Bitcoin (BTC) experienced a major sell-off resulting in a price plummet by more than $1,000 yesterday. Here are your latest cryptocurrency news and prices. 

Latest Bitcoin (BTC) news and prices

At around 10:15 UTC until around 22:15, Bitcoin’s (BTC) price suffered a notable pullback, followed by a small bounce close to $11,200 which provided temporary support. Despite this pullback, BTC’s local daily high was close to $12,325 which is its highest since July 10.

BTC opened on August 6 at $11,800, broke through the $12,000 barrier at 06:45 UTC to solidify a 24-hour high just shy of $12,300 at around 10:15 UTC. Following that, a 30-minute sell-off was catalysed, resulting in the price plummeting to $11,671.

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency with the current market capitalization of $24.3 billion, has settled at $226.50 after an unsuccessful attempt to break $240.00 barrier. The coin touched $239.56 high on Tuesday, but failed to hold the ground and retreated to $222.00 low. The coin has lost over 1.5% in recent 24 hours and stayed range-bound since the beginning of the day.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) news and prices

Bitcoin Cash made a swing on levels at $355 on August 5 and August 6. However, diminishing buying power saw up leg cut short. Recovery from mid-July lows has been impeccably bullish forming a higher low pattern within a rising wedge pattern.

BCH/USD first corrected above both the 50 Simple Moving Average 1-hour chart and the 100 SMA 1-hour on July 30. The move reignited the bullish momentum allowing the bulls to cement their position above $300. The lock-step trading in the first week of August is seen to have an affinity to for upper levels.

Litecoin’s previous day growth pattern is one of a kind. It came as a surprise when the coin added 5.36% as its first swing of the day and by 07:05 UTC; it was being traded near 99.02 USD. It was followed by a steep fall of 5.44%, and it deducted 5.38 USD from its previous value of 99.02 USD. Between 16:33 UTC and 21:32 UTC, the coin again took a dip and reached a slow as 91.05 USD. Binance Coin (BNB) news and prices

Binance, the world’s biggest and fastest-growing cryptocurrency exchange, is embarking on a new European-focused strategy which will involve opening an office in London, according to CEO Changpeng Zhao. 

The Malta-based company has been focused on Asia, but now plans are afoot to provide a deeper service within Europe, said Zhao, known throughout the crypto world as CZ.

Earlier this week twitter personality Andrew Rennhack suggested that Bitcoin’s explosive rally from $4,000 to $13,800 was primarily fuelled by Tether printing a vast amount of USDT. According to Rennhack, Bitcoin is not “sound money” as “the entire cryptocurrency market is backed by unaudited Tether which has the top 24-hr trading volume.”
