It can be daunting to try to make ends meet and even more so at this trying time.  However, students can look at one or more of the following ways to make some extra money.

1. Yaga

Yaga started as a mobile friendly web-only platform and now is also an app that you can download. Basically, you sell your preloved items such as clothes, accessories, gadgets, books and more on Yaga.

With this app, you can buy, sell and create your own e-store. You also can publish images and prices of all the items you want to sell. If you have the right kind of items to sell, it definitely can be a great way to make a few bucks while at home.

2. Paid surveys

If you are a student who spends most of your time online, why not take advantage of all the perks that come with surfing the net?

Another great way to make money is to take part in paid online surveys. There are quite a lot of sites that pay you for responding to surveys and polls, and they include LifePoints, Toluna South Africa and Paid Viewpoint among others.

3. Field agent

Field Agent is an App that pays you for completing missions and tasks in your area. The user friendly app pays you for mystery shopping, market research and performing audits at retail stores.

As long as you complete the job in the allocated time, you will get paid. It requires your location to search for missions in your area, but is a good way to make some extra cash.

4. Become a sales rep or agent

This is also a cool way to make money as a student as there are a lot of companies looking for sales representatives to sell and distribute their products. Think of big firms Avon or Tupperware which have been around for a long time.

You can easily apply to become an agent and start to earn your sales or commission based income. If you have the right attitude to sales, this can definitely make a difference, trust me.

5. Influencer marketing

Influencer marketing has become huge in South Africa and elsewhere. If you are an active social media user and have a huge following then you can approach brands to collaborate with them as an influencer. They can pay really well if you your audience reach and engagement are significant.

Even if you only have a relatively small number, 1 000 or so, if your niche matches then it can work. However, generally, the bigger your following, the more likely it will be to get a foot in the door of influencer marketing.
