TS Galaxy coach comments on striker’s GBV case

TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic makes a comment on striker Thamsanqa Gabuza’s GBV case following an appearance at the Magistrates court.

Striker Thamsanqa Gabuza was released on R3000 bail by the Alexandra Magistrates and TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic comments and says the forward is not guilty in the GBV case until proven otherwise.

The 36-year-old striker contracted to Galaxy handed himself over to the police last week on the back of being charged with malicious damage to property.

The South African also reported that Gabuza was also charged with attempted rape – but the latter accusations are claimed by his lawyer as a rumour.

The Galaxy striker was spotted at training ahead of their Carling Knockout Cup semi-final clash against AmaZulu away on Sunday.

GALAXY COACH COMMENTS ON STRIKER’S GBV CASE

When quizzed about the court case, Galaxy coach Ramovic said Gabuza is a disciplined player and the matter is beyond football.

“Gabuza is a fantastic human being, and I don’t have any problem with him around discipline. What happened is still not [tried], it’s still in the case right,” defended Ramovic according to SABC.

“So I don’t know [what the facts are], but I will treat him, until the case is done, with a lot of respect because I’ve known him now since July.

“He’s a fantastic human being, very professional, a good guy, and we’ll treat him just like we’ve always done with a lot of respect and yes, he’s a very important part of this club and team.”

The public broadcaster reports that the former SuperSport United striker was in the wrong of the law as he handed himself when he faced a similar offence in 2017 but nothing came out of it.

Based on Ramovic’s sentiments, it remains to be seen if his off-field issues will hurt his chances of selection for the Rickets this weekend.

“He’s a fantastic player, but like I always say, we have 23 fantastic players in our squad, so it’s not easy to play and get the game-time that makes us happy,” adds the Bosnia-born Ramovic.

“So everyone has to train well, everyone has to show quality everyday and try to improve because this is the only way to have a chance to get game-time, but Gabuza until now has been very professional and great, and we are happy to have him in our squad.”
