Max Verstappen takes over at the top of the F1 Power Rankings after a superb drive at Imola.

Verstappen was flawless on his path to victory as the Red Bull’s found greater reliability.

Charles Leclerc remains the Formula 1 World Driver’s Championship leader but a bad error cost him a podium finish and sees him slide away from the top.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix rankings

1 Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen snatched Red Bull’s 75th F1 pole position in a tough qualifying session that featured five red flags and followed that up with P1 in the Sprint, the Grand Prix victory, and fastest lap. The reigning world champion was imperious in the race ratcheting up the pressure on Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

2 Lando Norris

Norris produced a patient drive to chalk up a second podium at Imola and his third in Italy. After qualifying third on Friday, he dropped to P5 in the Sprint, but worked his way back up to third when others fell victim to the chaos of another wet-dry Grand Prix.

3 George Russell

George Russell once again outperformed teammate Lewis Hamilton by a country mile as he wrestled the Mercedes into fourth place.

3 Valterri Bottas

Valtteri Bottas leaves Imola with a solid score and likely also a smile on his face, after a technical issue stopped him from qualifying better than P8 on Friday but a great race drive saw him finish seventh in the Alfa Romeo.

5 Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez recovered from a poor start to the weekend with a great race drive and he would be the catalyst for the error that saw Leclerc have to mount a comeback drive.

5 Yuki Tsunoda

Tsunoda made up a solid five positions in the Sprint and another five on Sunday – an eventual P7 proved his reward for keeping a cool head after initially qualifying back in 16th.

7 Alex Albon

Alex Albon just missed out on a points finish but his seventh place on the power rankings for the weekend is indicative of a great Sunday rescue act.

8 Kevin Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen took P8 on Saturday (one more point) and flew out of the blocks at the start of Sunday’s Grand Prix, moving up to P5 after Lap 1. He couldn’t keep the pace when the track dried out and finished ninth but showed why Haas have brought him in as he managed another points finish.

9 Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel put his Aston Martin into Q3, but tyre issues saw him drop to P13 in the Sprint. Nonetheless, he shot to P9 at the start of the Grand Prix and ran as high as P7 for most of the race – dropping to P8 at the end to bring the team their first points of the season.

10 Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll backed up his Aston Martin teammate with P10. Jumping from P15 to P11 at the start, Stroll soon made his way into the top 10 and finished well ahead of Albon on the road – exactly the performance his squad needed.
