BREAKING: Novak Djokovic seeded No 1 for Australian Open

The men’s singles seeds were announced on Tuesday for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

The men’s singles seeds were announced on Tuesday for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

The Australian Open will get under way on Monday, 17 January at Melbourne Park.

World No 1, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, has been seeded No 1, but his participation remains in doubt.

Djokovic did train on Tuesday – as reported by The South African website – but his fate is out of his hands as he awaits a final decision on his eligibility.

Novak Djokovic is seeking a record-extending 10th Australian Open title and a record-setting 21st Grand Slam title.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal, who would also win a 21st Grand Slam title should he prevail over the next fortnight, has been seeded sixth.

South Africa’s Lloyd Harris is the 30th seed.
