Super Rugby AU

In Australia, Super Rugby AU moves into its second week after round one produced intriguing encounters with the Reds pipping the Waratahs and the Brumbies putting away the Rebels.

This weekend sees the return of the Western Force franchise who get their campaign underway against the Waratahs in Canberra on Saturday. South Africans Brynard Stander and Chris Heiberg have been named in the Western Force’s match-day squad.

On Friday the Rebels and Reds meet at Brookvale with the Queensland outfit afforded an opportunity to seize top spot on the standings. The Brumbies enjoy a bye after opening their account with a clinical display against the Rebels.

Super Rugby Aotearoa

In New Zealand round four of Supr Rugby Aotearoa saw the Blues enjoy a bye while the Crusaders took full advantage by beating the Highlanders to leap-frog them into first place.

Both the Blues and Crusaders are unbeaten and meet in round five. The Hurricanes, like the Crusaders, won away from home to kick-start their season and make it even tougher for the Chiefs season. Player of the Week was Crusaders’ wing/fullback Will Jordan who is in amazing form having already been POTW in Round 2 and third-best in Round 3. Jordan is followed this week by Highlanders’ flanker Shannon Frizell and Crusaders’ scrum-half Mitchell Drummond.
