Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s final game of the season Zinedine Zidane was cagey on the future of Gareth Bale but crystal clear that he would direct all transfer business for the club.

Zidane left Real Madrid after guiding them to a third successive Champions League title amid rumours Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Juventus against his wishes.

The Frenchman made it clear that if Bale were to be sold then it would be because he wills it. Bale has fallen out of favour with fans at the Bernabeu and doesn’t appear to be keen on staying in the Spanish Capital any longer.

“I don’t know, I can’t tell you. It’s the season finale and next year there are going to be changes. But I don’t know what is going to happen,” Zidane told press this week.

“It’s my decision, that is clear as water. I’m the coach and I will always do what I want to do. If not, I’ll leave.

“For signings and those sorts of things we have people who work on them but we work together.”

Zidane wants to see more from his team in their closing La Liga game against Real Betis this Sunday even if Los Blancos cannot avoid finishing third after a disappointing campaign started under Santiago Solari.

“The message is clear, it is the last game and we want to say goodbye to the fans with a good game and a victory,” said Zidane.

“It has been a complicated year and I want to convey that we are looking ahead to next season and to show the fans that we will return with enthusiasm to make them proud of the team again.”

Real Madrid are rumoured to be targeting moves for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to freshen up their attacking arsenal.
