Harry Kane’s move from Tottenham Hotspur to German champions Bayern Munich has been confirmed on Saturday, 12 August and puts to rest months of speculation of where the England striker would play his football this season.

The England captain’s transfer fee is reported to be worth £95m according to the BBC. His contract lasts until June 2027. The move was almost inevitable as Spurs knew they could cash in big on Kane as he’s in the final year of his contract.

Many pundits and football fans gave their unsolicited advice to the 30-year-old who was released by Arsenal as an eight-year-old. Many pundits including former players like Michael Owen and Gary Neville said Kane should remain in England with Spurs.

HARRY KANE’S DEPARTURE LEAVES SPURS WITH A HUGE HOLE IN ATTACK, BUT LOTS OF MONEY

The former England internationals pointed towards Kane’s 213 Premier League goals which puts him second on the list of all-time goal scorers behind Alan Shearer, who retired over a decade ago.

Many people thought Kane would remain with Spurs and attempt to eclipse Shearer’s 260 goals. Kane’s remarkable ratio of 0.67 goals per game means he was likely to have achieved that had he remained in England.

The move to the 32-times Bundesliga champions almost guarantees the striker a league winners medal. Bayern finished outside the top spot since 2011.

But even more so, the transfer of the best English striker in football amplifies the importance players put on themselves and their achievements. Kane wants to compete in the Champions League, Bayern offers that to him.

Spurs loss of a world class striker is Bayern’s gain as finally the Bavarian’s can replace Robert Lewandowski after Sadio Mane’s time at the Allianz Arena.

Kane’s decision might seem ruthless to some people, but in a world where footballers are playing over 60 matches a season he has made a move that could see him taste European glory with one of the continent’s biggest teams.

For too long Kane has been part of a mediocre Spurs side that has looked unambitious since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019. Younger players should look to Kane as an example in that he followed his ambition to play with the best and compete against the best.

Good luck, Harry.
