On Saturday, the Chiefs suffered a disappointing defeat to SuperSport United, which was their fourth loss out of their last five games in all competitions.

Yet there can be no excuses for the shocking behaviour from disgruntled spectators after the game at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, which saw ‘fans’ hurl objects at Zwane and some of the players as they walked off the pitch.

The Chiefs coach was apparently hit by a bottle and cut underneath the eye before he was quickly escorted by police.

You can see the video of the ugly scenes that the Chiefs coach faced after the game:

Zwane had to miss the post-match press conference, with assistant coach Dillon Sheppard explaining that the head coach needed treatment.

“Unfortunately he picked up a little bit of an injury to his eye,” he said.

“I don’t know how it happened the incident, I just saw him now putting some ice on his eye. I have to find out the details when I get back to the change room.”

Just before the horrible post-match scenes, Zwane had expressed his unhappiness with his players’ attitude, especially in the first half.

“Our attitude sometimes is something that you cannot control, it comes from the players,” he told SuperSport TV.

“First of all, we’re playing for a third spot – we win the game and we close the gap. It should come from you, you can come up with tactics, you can come up with everything.”
