Royal AM could be in massive danger of starting the new season in minus points after not settling the issue with former forward Samir Nurkovic.

Royal AM were given until Monday, 19 June to settle with Nurkovic and his representative, with the figure set around R12 million.

But they have failed.

Now they face massive consequences.

SABC Sport reported that this included his salary for the entire contract, representatives’ fees and interest accrued from delays, and the publication has now confirmed that this payment has not been made.

“We will now certainly submit the case to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and ask for the ban to be implemented,” the player’s attorney, Davor Lazic, commented.

Sanctions from FIFA could include being banned from signing players for at least two transfer windows, or they could be docked points in the next season.

NURKOVIC ENDURED A NIGHTMARE FEW MONTHS AT ROYAL AM

Last year, more details emerged into Samir Nurkovic’s acrimonious exit from Royal AM after an ill-fated move from Kaizer Chiefs.

Towards the end of 2022, it was first revealed by Unplayable that “Samir Nurkovic’s legal team led by Davor Lazic had taken Royal AM to FIFA, after the striker parted ways with the club” while refuting the manner in which his contract was terminated, as well as questioning alleged unpaid salaries.

It was then reported that “Nurkovic has won his case against Royal AM. FIFA ruled in his favour (for breach of contract). Royal AM must pay out Nurkovic’s full 2-year contract before 19 June 2023 or face a transfer ban.”

This all came after Royal AM failed to pay the player’s salary for the first three months, and tried to terminate the agreement within 30 days under the allegation that he had been injured.

However, Lazic previously stated that Nurkovic was able to play, but was continually overlooked.

“From July 1 until today he was never paid anything and there was no other option to take than take the matter to FIFA. He didn’t want to terminate the contract, but the club terminated the contract without just cause.”
