Nigeria’s semi-final showdown with South Africa turned into a nail-biter. After a tense 1-1 draw, the match shifted to a penalty shootout where Nwabali became the star.

The excitement of Nigeria’s win has been tarnished by reports of hostility directed towards Nwabali from certain South African supporters.

Chris Uchegbulam, a former Vice President of the CAF Appeal Committee, voiced his concerns to Nation Online: “The feelers I’m getting from South Africa regarding Nwabali is not encouraging, and I want to advise that he should not go back to Chippa United after the AFCON.”

“Some would say it was just football,” Uchegbulam continued, “but the signals I’m getting from South Africa about Nwabali is not so positive.”

Seeking Safety: Urgent Advice for Nwabali

The threats are concerning. In response, Uchegbulam suggests that instead of returning to Chippa United, Nwabali could find temporary refuge by training with one of Nigeria’s top football clubs – Enyimba United or Rivers United are both potential options.

This would provide him time and necessary distance while he explores alternate clubs for a transfer.
