The South African Football Association (SAFA) has been rocked by the resignation of advocate Tebogo Motlanthe as CEO.

SAFA has lodged an official complaint after Bafana Bafana’s 2022 Soccer World Cup hopes were dashed by a controversial penalty against Ghana.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has been rocked by the resignation of advocate Tebogo Motlanthe as CEO.

According to TimesLIVE, Motlanthe submitted his letter of resignation to SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan on Friday.

The publication reports that Jordaan immediately called an emergency executive meeting to discuss the shock resignation of Motlanthe.

“There were a lot issues that the CEO was not happy about and he felt that no one really supported him in the organisation,” a source close to the matter told TimesLIVE.

Motlanthe had been the SAFA CEO since January 2021 when he took over from Gay Mokoena on a permanent basis.

Prior to that, Motlanthe held the same position albeit on an interim basis from June 2020 following the D eparture of Mokoena.
