Royal AM superfan Mama Joy Chauke to fly to Doha with SAFA

Royal AM superfan Mama Joy Chauke will travel with the South African Football Association (SAFA) to Doha for the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw in April.

Mama Joy has been invited by SAFA to form part of the delegation to Qatar as one of the most-recognisable faces of South African football.

The former Orlando Pirates avid fan said a provision was made that she be accompanied by Kaizer Chiefs superfan Saddam Maake.

The two South African fans are committee members of the South African National Supporters (Sanasu) to watch the draw on 1 April.

Mama Joy is the secretary-general of Sanasu while Maake is the chairperson of the organisation.

According to SAFA, Mama Joy will fly to Doha on Monday, 28 March and return to South Africa on 3 April.

Mama Joy is overjoyed at the news that she will be at the FIFA World Cup draw where she will get to rub shoulders with fans from other countries.

MAMA JOY TO JOIN SAFA AT FIFA WORLD CUP DRAW IN QATAR

“I would want to take this opportunity to thank SAFA, especially president Danny Jordaan for embracing us supporters as critical stakeholders of the game,” said Mama Joy on the SAFA website.

“This is massive because I will not only be representing my organisation Sanasu but will be doing this for my Association (SAFA), South Africa and Cosafa.

“I will be among a few global faces of soccer fans at the draw.

“Provisionally, they have promised that a few more fans from South Africa that include Sanasu president, Saddam Maake, will make the trip during the World Cup tournament and we intend to leave a lasting impression there,” added Mama Joy.
