REVEALED : How much Percy Tau will earn with new Al Ahly contract! 

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has been linked with a move abroad, but it now seems likely that he will extend his stay at Al Ahly.

Tau has been in terrific form for Egyptian giants Al Ahly this season, with his turnaround of fortunes seemingly not going unnoticed.

Tau’s four goals in the CAF Champions League had seen him playing an integral role for Al Ahly in the competition, that they went on to win last season. That fear made him the first South African to ever win the continental competition twice.  The tricky forward signed for the Red Eagles in the 2021/22 season, in a high profile but opinion diving move from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

When he joined, he signed a three-year deal, which then means that the Bafana Bafana will have just one more season remaining on his contract at Al Ahly after this season. That could well put Tau in a very strong position should he want to push for a move to greener pastures. It also forces the Egyptian Red Devils to consider cashing in on the player or risk losing him for free when his deal expires, should they fail to agree fresh terms.

Al Ahly seem to be well aware of that, however, and according to the latest information from Egypt, Tau could be set to sign a new four-year deal with the club of the century, and will be rewarded handsomely should he do so. 

Al Ahly offer Tau blockbuster new deal!

According to Egyptian publication Cairo24 Al Ahly are set to sit down with Tau’s representative Mmatsatsi Sefalafala. They believe that Sefalafala will propose a R2.2 million a month salary for her client. This would work out to roughly R26.8 million a year. This would represent an increase of R7.1 million on his current salary per annum. The North African giants, however, are believed to be ready to counter that offer by proposing a R24.1 million per annum package, which would carry a R894k increase yearly over four-years.

It now remains to be seen if that will be enough for Tau or if his camp will be instructed to find a common ground with Al Ahly.
