Bradley Ralani could be playing for Cape Town City sooner rather than later according to the latest reports.

Now 35, Ralani is being tipped to leave Mamelodi Sundowns when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Ralani on his way out

Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has not made much use of the playmaker and might be open to allowing him to leave for free.

“When Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi were co-head coaches, both would make suggestions on who to bring to help beef up the squad. Ralani was brought in the club through the recommendation of Mngqithi but doesn’t fit into Mokwena’s template,” a source told the Citizen.

While Sundowns continue to juggle domestic duty and continental action, there still hasn’t been much time for Ralani to impress.

The veteran midfielder joined Cape Town City in 2018.

In 2021, Ralani moved to Sundowns and was part of the treble winning outfit.

Manqoba Mngqithi said at the time: “The truth of the matter is when you sign a 34-year-old, people are already looking at you and say what are you trying to do.

“But when you look at numbers of Surprise Ralani you will be surprised because his numbers surpass by far the numbers of our players in terms of high-intensity runs, number of dribbles, number of successful dribbles, number of shots at goal and number of assists.

Why he joined Sundowns in 2021

“He has been consistent in that space, we just believe is one of those underrated players that probably ready to be worth of maybe getting some serious awards in the league because he has been very consistent, and his numbers will surprise you.

“We needed that type of winger, we needed dribblers, people who can assist in one vs one situation, dominate and get assists in total, and Bradley is not a surprise in that space.”

Ralani has previously played for Hässleholm, Helsingborg, Landskrona and Lyngby BK in Norway and Sweden.
