Peter Shalulile is misfiring and worried Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says he is working hard to uplift him.

Mokwena explains that he is unhappy as Shalilule is going through a dry spell when it comes to goals this term.

The Namibian last scored a goal for Sundowns in a Caf Champions League tie against TP Mazembe from the spot this month.

Addressing his struggles, Mokwena says the misfiring Shalulile is working hard to end the drought

With Sundowns’ goals coming from Gaston Sirino, Teboho Mokoena, and Lucas Ribeiro, Mokwena is worried about Shalulile.

Sundowns will now face Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup and Mokwena hopes his marksman will return to his best.

“I would be lying to you if I said it doesn’t worry me,” Mokwena tells the media about Shalulile per Sowetan.

“I speak to him quite a lot. We spoke today (Wednesday) before I left training.

“We had a session where a lot of it was focused on the final third.

“Funny, he was just banging goals in and with his left foot.

“And I say to him, is this the return of Peter Shalulile?

“He looked at me and said, ‘no, it is the return of the left foot. I’m hoping that he continues like this.”

WHY SHALULILE IS LIKE HAALAND AND BENZEMA – MOKWENA

In addition, the Masandawana mentor compares the misfiring Shalulile to Manchester City goal poacher Erling Haaland.

At the same time, Mokwena is happy his players are helping with goals as their game has an emphasis on details.

“There is so much work that they have to do in and out of position,” adds Mokwena about Shalulile.

“As long as I still see that, I’m very happy. I know the goals will come for sure.

“Every single striker, you go from Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo to Haaland.

“Strikers go through these situations. You just have to support them.”
