Why did Chiefs sub Dolly at HT during the Soweto derby?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has explained why he had to take off Keagan Dolly during the derby match against Pirates on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson explain why Keagan Dolly was subbed off at half-time during the Soweto derby match on Saturday afternoon.

The 30-year-old hardly made any impact in the 45 minutes before he was taken off.

Chiefs were defeated 1-0 by Orlando Pirates at the FNB stadium.

Johnson said after the match, that Dolly got injured during the derby.

“Keagan is a 100% fit but at the same time he’s also still coming back,” he said.

“He’s 100% fit but today he got injured, he came off the pitch, he got substituted because he got hurt.”

“He’s got hurt on his ankle and we had to take him off at half-time.

“But he’s getting there and hopefully by the next window, when it’s closed, it’s now FIFA, he’ll be 140%,” said Johnson.

Dolly missed preseason due to injury and only returned to action in October.

Since his return, the winger made five appearances for the Soweto giants, providing one assist.

It remains to be seen whether Dolly’s injury is serious or if the team took precautionary meatures to ensure that their star player is available in two weeks after the FIFA break.
