Sibongiseni Mthethwa was absent for Kaizer Chiefs for their MTN8 defeat to Sundowns because he was cup-tied. However, the former Stellies man should debut soon.

Mthethwa to come in for Maart?

Sibongiseni Mthethwa was signed to start games for Chiefs and Molefi Ntseki will be tempted to throw him into the starting XI against Sekhukhune. The Glamour Boys face Babina Noko on Wednesday 27 September at 19:30.

Kaizer Chiefs lacking firepower and invention

Rather than opt for a conventional number 9, Molefi Ntseki picked Ashley Du Preez through the middle with Pule Mmodi and Tebogo Potsane flanking him. Perhaps you could say the experiment worked to some extent, with Du Preez scoring for the Glamour Boys, but what’s the point of having both Christian Saile and Efmamjjasond Gonzalez on the bench? Potsane might be the man to get the axe. Mduduzi Mdantsane also deserves a recall in midfield, but at whose expense? George Matlou is the obvious candidate, but even Yusuf Maart’s place isn’t safe. Edmilson Dove’s relative youth and extra versatility also mean he should get a recall at left-back at the expense of Sifiso Hlanti. Meanwhile, Brandon Petersen has received public backing from his boss but perhaps it’s time for him to come out of the media firing line too after his costly error against the Brazilians.
