The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the Nedbank Cup semifinals details. Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Stellenbosch FC fans should come closer.

According to the PSL, the Ke Yona last four draw will be held on Sunday. The league confirmed that the event will be live on SuperSport TV channel 202. It will be right after the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal match between TS Galaxy and Chippa United, which kicked off at 15:00.

Meanwhile, defending Nedbank Cup champions Orlando Pirates look like they’re in the mood for another green title. Jose Riveiro‘s side have been frustratingly inconsistent in the DStv Premiership, but in the Nedbank Cup, the wins and goals don’t stop.

It’s a great time again to wear the Orlando Pirates jersey in the streets. The Sea Robbers are playing great football in the Nedbank Cup. The latest was a 4-2 thriller over AmaZulu with goals from Patrick Maswanganyi (X2), Kabelo Dlamini and Makhehlene Makhaula.

Last night’s performance at the Moses Mabhida Stadium saw Jose Riveiro‘s side show resilience. The Buccaneers first went a goal behind before coming back to win 4-2 finally. Looking at the entire Nedbank Cup run, Orlando Pirates have scored an impressive 14 goals in three Nedbank Cup games.

  • 6-0 win over Crystal Lake (away)
  • 4-0 win over Hungry Lions (away)
  • 4-2 win over AmaZulu (away).

Orlando Pirates management and certain high-profile players have some big contract decisions to make. Zakhele Lepasa is on the list. This might surprise a few supporters. The Soweto-born striker could leave the Sea Robbers when his contract expires in June 2024.

Five years ago, Lepasa rejoined Orlando Pirates after impressing on loan at TS Galaxy. The 27-year-old from Soweto had emerged from the club’s youth before loan spells at Stellenbosch FC and the Rockets. Since playing for the Bucs’ first team, Lepasa has delivered 15 goals and two assists in 64 matches—not forgetting the two goals he scored on loan at SuperSport United.

According to available records, Orlando Pirates came close to offering Lepasa a deal last year when he was flying high, but the form did not last long enough. With the attacker’s deal ending in June, the club could allow Lepasa to leave as a free agent.

For now, the Soweto giants will turn away from the Nedbank Cup. This coming weekend will offer DStv Premiership action. Orlando Pirates will face another battle with AmaZulu, this time in the league. The game is set for Saturday, 20 April, at 17:30 from the Orlando Stadium.
