Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says his side should have done better following a disappointing goalless draw against Royal AM on Sunday afternoon.

The 65-year-old was left frustrated with Ashley Du Preez after the striker failed to convert his chances.

Although Amakhosi left KwaZulu-Natal with a point, Johnson was disappointed with how his team played.

“It’s six-week pre-season and we all had it. Normally, this type of performance you will expect at the beginning of the season, and it’s halfway through the season and it is the same type of performance,” Johnson told the media.

“But we will take the one point, it is away from home, and we will go for the next game.”

Kaizer Chiefs played their first game following a six-week break and never really found their rhythm.

Johnson says Amakhosi should be winning matches as they were a ‘special’ team

“We say that the weather today was probably the best to play football in. But I think my team can only play football at 35 degrees. When it is like this, we seem to struggle.

“We need to be better at the ball,” Johnson added.
