Wayne Sandilands says he hopes to remain with Orlando Pirates next season in whatever capacity the club chooses.

The now 38-year-old has made 80 appearances for the Buccaneers since joining from Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2017.

He spent the recently completed 2021/22 DStv Premiership season in a temporary goalkeeper coaching capacity following the departure of Andrew Sparkes.

He didn’t play any competitive matches.

Wayne Sandilands is currently attending a FIFA advanced goalkeeper coaching course and when asked about his future, said according to SowetanLIVE: “We are still deciding that; I can’t give you a definite answer at this point.

“We are still negotiating through these waters and we will see.”

Benoni-born Sandilands picked up eight Bafana Bafana caps during his career.

“We will see what happens and we will take it from there, but obviously you look to add this opportunity that comes now in terms of the course,” Sandilands continued.

“It is something that you need to grab because the last time something like this happened was in 2011.

“I’m happy at Pirates. I have been there for five years. I love the club and I’m invested in the club, to be part of the family.”
