Tshegofatso Mabasa returned and hit the ground running with one goal after a successful loan spell at Moroka Swallows. The lethal striker is poised to showcase his scoring prowess to the “happy people”. During his time at Swallows, Mabasa displayed his finishing abilities. By netting six goals in just 15 appearances at the Dube Birds.

Now back at Pirates he has already scored one goal in the Nedbank Cup against Crystal Lake. He is eager to repay the club’s faith in him by finding the back of the net regularly. Also ex-Pirates man Riyaad Norodien has weigned in on the Soweto Derby and his prediction without Thembinkosi Lorch.

In a recent press conference, Mabasa expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to don the Pirates jersey once again. He emphasised his commitment to contributing goals and helping the team secure victories and trophies, as per Soccer Laduma.

Tshegofatso Mabasa has scored 19 goals in 69 games for Orlando Pirates. He will be looking to add to this in the Soweto Derby when they take on Kaizer Chiefs.

Ex-Pirates man weighs in on Soweto Derby

Former Pirates man Riyaad Norodien spoke about the Soweto Derby and gave his prediction without Lorch.  

“The derby is the most spectacular event when it comes down,” Norodien told The South African exclusively. 

“Playing the Soweto Derby and watching it, are two different stories and experiences. 

“It gives you chills throughout your body, you can’t describe it. I believe Orlando Pirates will take it, once and always.”

When asked about Pirates winning without Thembinkosi Lorch, who has moved to Mamelodi Sundowns. 

“No disrespect but the team always comes first regardless of any transfer like Lorch being done. The team’s name will stay and say Orlando Pirates, and the great history that comes with it will always thrive.”

Tshegofatso Mabasa’s Pirates will take on Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday at 15:00 at the iconic FNB Stadium.
