Cele’s contract at Radomiak has an option to extend for one more season and it was expected that the club would take it up, affecting Chiefs and Sundowns’ plans.

Of course, Cele is currently home in South Africa, after representing Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup, back in his home province of KZN. His return also proved to be of good effect, as he ended up winning the man of the match award. The KZN Academy graduate had a fantastic game in the middle of the park, although the hosts ended up having to come from behind in order to clinch the victory.

Seeing such performance might’ve had Chiefs fans reminiscing on what could’ve been, had their club been able to wrap up a deal for Cele two season ago. The player himself admitted to waiting for the club to sign him, but nothing materialised. From there, he ended up plying his trade abroad. The box-to-box star has also made no secret of his love for Amakhosi, growing up as a supporter of the club, so that deal would’ve meant a lot more to him.

Now either the Chiefs dream may finally come true or Cele may end up at their rivals Sundowns, who seem to have shown the most interest in the player thus far. This is because, reports in Poland claim that the midfielder is no longer in the plans of Radomiak and he has chosen to stay in South Africa for his next move.

Chiefs, Sundowns monitor Cele’s Radomiak situation?

“One more transfer in Radomiak. This time from the club. From what I hear, Thabo Cele will no longer be a Green player. He spent almost the entire pre-season with the South African national team and decided that he wanted to stay in Africa permanently.” Said a translated Tweet by a Polish sports journalist Maciej Ławrynowicz.

It now remains to be seen if Radomiak will want to exercise the option for Cele and then cash in, or will they release him on a free? Either way, expect both Chiefs and Sundowns to be watching.
