Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler is pleading with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to introduce Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

This comes after his side were beaten 2-0 by Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The Buccaneers scored an early goal through Zakhele Lepasa but Tinkler’s men fought back strongly to try to find the equalising goal. In the 75th minute, the home side scored a second goal but questions were raised whether the ball crossed the line after Patrick Maswanganyi took a shot.

Tinkler demands VAR.

Tinkler believes the Sea Robbers’ second goal should not have counted

Tinker said after the game that Pirates’ second goal shouldn’t have been allowed.

โ€œObviously we would like to bring technology into our game because it does make a difference,โ€ Tinkler told the media.

โ€œLike I said to you that goal shouldnโ€™t be allowed, the ascendancy that time of the game was with us. We end up losing the ascendancy that time because we 2-0 down so the mindset changed,” Tinkler said after the game.

โ€œAt that stage of the game the players start believing we can get back to the game because they see that we have control of the match so those mistakes become extremely costly mistakes that referees and linesman are making.

Cape Town City loses third game in a row

โ€œSo, if we can bring in technology to help we should be doing that,โ€ Tinkler said.

Despite winning two of their opening games, Cape Town City now found themselves in 10th on the DStv Premiership table having lost three successive games.
