TS Galaxy striker Thamsanqa Gabuza was arrested on Tuesday for domestic violence.

Gabuza’s ex-girlfriend has accused the former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United striker of attempted rape, domestic violence and malicious damage to property.

Gabuza, 36, has been at the centre of domestic violence allegations before in 2017 when, while on the books of the Buccaneers, he is alleged to have damaged then-girlfriend Boitshoko Tala’s cellphone and laptop at her Sandton home.

He is then said to have run away with R40 000 worth of her belongings.

The statement at the time read in part: “Complaint alleged that she was at the above scene of crime at her boyfriend’s place, Mr Aubrey Thamsanqa Gabuza, a Pirates soccer player. He was beating her and she asked him why he beat her and he said he was beating her because of the phone calls she was receiving. And she gave him the phone so that he can check.

“She managed to push him away and he took (an) electric iron to beat her and he was kicking her. She was lying down, he locked his house and drove off. He took her seven handbags, iPad, house keys, iPhone 6, iPhone 7, total value of items are R40 000.”
