SuperSport confirm George Chigova’s death

Rest in Peace – DStv Premiership club SuperSport United have confirmed George Chigova has passed away at the age of 32.

SuperSport United goalkeeper George Chigova has died after suffering a heart attack, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

“It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the passing of former SuperSport United player, George Chigova,” United said.

“We convey our deepest condolences to his family and friends both in South Africa and in Zimbabawe during this difficult and very sad time.

“May his soul rest in peace 🕊,” SuperSport added.

PLAYING CAREER

Born in Harare, Chigova began at Aces Youth in 2009. He then moved to Gunners Harare before the dream move to local giants Dynamos in 2012.

Chigova’s major career leap was in 2014 to SuperSport United. He later moved to Polokwane City before returning to Matsatsantsa a Pitori for his second stint in 2020.

His accolades included the 2014/15 league title with SuperSport, as well as eight caps in the national colours of the Zimbabwe Warriors.
