Sundowns and Sekhukhune agree on Mobbie’s future?

Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United have seemingly agreed to reach a settlement on defender Nyiko Mobbie’s future.

Considering stiff competition at Chloorkop, Mamelodi Sundowns defender Nyiko Mobbie could remain at Sekhukhune United and it seems the two clubs have agreed on his future.

Mobbie is set for another loan a stint at Sekhukhune and sources reveal that he is not going back to Sundowns anytime soon as his future is elsewhere.

The latest update regarding the Bafana Bafana defender, Mobbie is that he will stay with Babina Noko for another season as he is deemed surplus top requirements at Sundowns.

SUNDOWNS AND SEKHUKHUNE AGREE ON MOBBIE’S FUTURE?

Local football publications report that the hard-working right-back, Mobbie will be given another opportunity by Sekhukhune coach Brandon Truter – the two DStv Premiership clubs have decided on his future.

It seems the former Swallows FC boss is a firm believer of Mobbie and informants revealed that the former Free State Stars player will be retained ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

iDiski Times can confirm an agreement has been reached with the two clubs, and Mobbie was happy to return to the club, as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations looms in January,” reports the publication.

“He’s an important part of the team, coach Brandon [Truter] is fond of him, his professionalism and work rate, it was a no-brainer [to retain him].”

Under coach Rulani Mokwena, the Limpopo-born defender faced competition against the experienced Thapelo Morena and Khuliso Mudau.

MOBBIE KEEN TO DUMP DOWNS AND STAY AT SEKHUKHUNE

In a most recent report published by The South African, Mobbie made it clear that he is ready to play his role for Truter’s side and cement his place in the Bafana side.

Mobbie is not only admired by national team coach Hugo Broos but has also impressed Sekhukhune United’s technical team led by Truter where he was a regular.

“I’m here at Sekhukhune and I’m getting the opportunity to play. It is not about that I am a loan player or what, I have a chance here and the coach allowed me to play,” Mobbie previously told the media.

“So, I have to deliver. It is not all about Sundowns, to be honest, it’s about me as a player, as I said, I have a chance here and I don’t have anything to complain about. I’m getting an opportunity here and I’m happy.”

Since joining Sundowns in 2019 from the now-defunct Ea Lla Koto, Mobbie has been shipped out on four loan stints.

The 28-year-old has featured for Stellenbosch, Chippa United, and will be on his second stint with Sekhukhune.

Judging his contribution at Sekhukhune, he played in 26 league matches across all competitions and chipped in with a single assist in the previous term.
