Kaizer Chiefs could welcome back a critical player at a key juncture of their season. Here’s the latest team news update.

DITLHOKWE TO RETURN FOR KAIZER CHIEFS?

According to Soccer-Laduma, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is ready to return to action for Amakhosi after his long-term shoulder problem.

“He is ready now. You know he had an operation on his shoulder but he has fully healed now and he is ready to come back but you know it all depends on what the (Chiefs) coaches see in training. But from the look of things he will be back very soon. It could be this weekend or next weekend but he is training with the rest of the team and he’s looking good,” said one source.

Contender for the captaincy?

Botswana star Ditlhokwe had captained his country by the age of 24, so he’s no stranger to thriving under pressure. He’s got all of his best years ahead of him, and can also deputise at left-back. Amakhosi fans have reason to be excited about their new defensive core who possess the rare combination of relative youth, leadership, presence and experience. He’s made 94 DStv Prem appearances in total, including 20+ in each of the last three full campaigns. This season has been a rare blip on his record in that regard after he dislocated his shoulder while playing for Botswana. However, if he appears in all of the final eight games in the league, he’ll once again clock up 20 outings. Availability is a seriously underrated trait possessed by all of the top players. Just ask Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo how many matches they’ve missed through injury. It’s not many.
