In a balancing act, Chiefs have also seen six players leaving their squad, the likes of Eric Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, Khama Billiat, Austin Dube all leaving Naturena. Now according to the latest reports, they’re no longer set to release a seventh in the shape of striker Caleb Bimenyimana. The Burundi international striker had been believed to be close to joining Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. It was thought that a deal had already been agreed by the two clubs, with just the personal terms now outstanding, on the player’s side. That move has since collapsed, with the new coach seemingly not facing the lanky star, and Molefi Ntseki confirming his return.

Now with those six players leaving the club, they could be potentially followed by another six more players, who could either be sold or loaned by Chiefs at the end of the season. Here are the five players who were out of favour at the club last season, and played little to no part in the friendly game against Yanga SC last week, in another indication that they’re time could be up at the club.  With reports that Amakhosi will finalise their list of exits after their friendly against Township Rollers of Botswana, here is a potential list of outgoings.

Six potential Chiefs outgoings

  1. Happy Mashiane– The player has struggled to progress in any position down the left hand flank and is now no longer a youngster. He was flirting with a move a way from the club last season, and this season could finally be time to leave.
  2. Kamohelo Mahlatsi– failed to reach double figures in appearances for Chiefs this season, and the amount of signings and options in his favoured areas on the pitch, seem to suggest very little of that will change.
  3. George Matlou– Another new signing that flattered to deceive last season, his limited game time in a depleted midfield seemed to suggest that the failed to impress the club’s management.
  4. Kgaugelo Sekgota– As a player, you could never question his endeavour but his lack of end product seemed to finally catch up with him last season. Chiefs fans quickly turned on him and it looks like the coaching staff might do the same too.
  5. Sabelo Radebe– Simply non-existent last season, and with more recruitment in his positions, it is no surprise that both a loan and permanent moves have been discussed around him.
  6. Bruce Bvuma, now firmly third choice keeper at Chiefs, Bvuma will be the first to understand that he needs game time to continue developing. On the evidence of the past two seasons and pre-season, it doesn’t look like that will happen at Chiefs and his best option might be a permanent move away.

The one potential in coming:

1. Thabo Cele– As already reported by this publication, the long-term Chiefs midfield target is set to become a free agent next month, with Amakhosi believed to be close to finalising a three-year deal for the player.
