Sipho Mbule news: Mamelodi Sundowns have NOT beaten Kaizer Chiefs to his capture

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has set the record straight regarding reports Mamelodi Sundowns have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to the signature of Sipho Mbule.

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has set the record straight regarding reports Mamelodi Sundowns have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to the signature of Sipho Mbule.

According to Matthews, the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana star midfielder will not be sold until after the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

And furthermore, Matsatsantsa’s first priority will be to sell him abroad – for more money than either the Brazilians or Amakhosi would – and could – afford to pay.

“Nothing has changed since the last time you asked me on 31 March, and nothing will change until after the Olympics,” Matthews reportedly told the Kickoff website when quizzed regarding the recent media reports.

It’s no surprise two of South Africa’s glamour clubs would be fighting over the services of one of the country’s brightest prospects.

To date this season Mbule has scored four goals and created five assists in his 24 appearances for SuperSport United.

His versatility in being able to play in all of the central midfield, attacking midfield and well as a left-midfielder positions is an added string to his bow.

Sipho Mbule’s contract with SuperSport United expires on June 30, 2022.
