SHOTS FIRED! AmaZulu’s Veli Mothwa doubts Kaizer Chiefs are still a big team

Kaizer Chiefs may be the most supported team in South Africa with millions of fans behind them but they are no longer a big team in the country.

And that’s according to AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa who spoke to the media ahead of the Saturday’s encounter against Amakhosi.

The league match is scheduled to take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:30.

Mothwa said while Chiefs are like a wounded lion given their current form, Usuthu also have their own wounds, and like their opponents, they also want maximum points.

“We playing against a wounded lion, they have wounds and we also have our own [wounds],” Mothwa told reporters.

“It will be a good game because both teams are desperate for three points.”

Mothwa further took a jab at Chiefs, questioning if the Soweto giants are still a big club, and in his opinion, the Glamour Boys are no longer big.

Mothwa said AmaZulu are also a big team in their own right but he warned that being big or small doesn’t matters on the pitch.

“Is Kaizer Chiefs still a big team? Yeah, back then they were but now I doubt it. We can play them anytime now with all due respect,” he said.

“AmaZulu are also a big team, but on the field of play, it is not about being big, it is about who wins on the day. We talk on the field. Action speaks on the day,” added Mothwa.
