Kaizer Chiefs face stiff competition for several transfer targets with Sundowns and Orlando Pirates keen to add Bafana talent to their ranks.

Orlando Pirates could upset Amakhosi’s plans

Amakhosi reportedly have their sights set on several players to bolster the ranks at Naturena this winter. Elias Mokwana, Luther Singh and Tshpang Moremi have all had different journies and trajectories for the national team. Singh, the 26-year-old wide attacker born in Soweto, hasn’t represented his nation in just under three years. He’s played 13 times for South Africa, the last of those caps came in World Cup qualifying in late 2021 against Zimbabwe.

“We received offers from Egypt, Morocco, Scotland, Sweden, and Major League Soccer. One Soweto club also enquired. The reason we haven’t made the decision is that the offers are not favourable for the player (Singh), we still want to wait a bit. He still wants to play abroad, but if the right deal locally comes, he will take it. The aim is to get back to the national team.” said agent Warren Swartz via iDiski Times.

Sundowns want to sign the best ahead of Kaizer Chiefs

According to SoccerLaduma, Sundowns are preparing a blockbuster move for long-term Chiefs and Pirates target Eilas Mokwana. The Sekhukhune winger has been a revelation for Babina Noko this season, earning a full Bafana Bafana call-up. Downs are now at the head of the queue for a man valued at R35 Million by Lehlohonolo Seema’s team. According to The Citizen, Mokwana has always admired Chiefs but has admitted to having a soft spot for Sowetor rivals Pirates. Will that be a problem for Sundowns?

What about Tshepang Moremi?

23-year-old AmaZulu winger Moremi isn’t the most prolific player. He’s got only two goals this season, but he has been a near ever-present for Usuthu, making 28 appearances in the league. That level of durability is an important commodity. His goal-shyness doesn’t mean he’s not a gifted player though. His overall performances this term have alerted Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos, who named him in a 36-man preliminary squad. According to the AmaZulu website, Moremi has had loan spells at Bizana Pondo Chiefs and JDR Stars in the National First Division to gain experience.

“As of now we can say that Tshepang (Moremi) is the most wanted player at the club. Mamelodi Sundowns have already made an official offer though it seems they will have it tough from rivals Orlando Pirates and now Kaizer Chiefs have also made inquiries about him,” the report read on SoccerLaduma.

It wouldn’t be a massive shock if the player accepted an offer from Sundowns.

Will Chiefs land any of their top targets or have they become a less favourable destination?
