Kermit’s Orlando Pirates career hasn’t delivered

Kermit Erasmus clocked up just 18 DStv Premiership appearances last term, scoring once and providing four assists. He often played second-fiddle to the irrepressible Monnapule Saleng and Terrence Dzvukamanja who hit a purple patch in front of goal. However, with Saleng out of form and Dzvukamanja having departed, the door has opened for Romeo again this season.

Injuries aren’t helping

Kermit Erasmus did start Pirates’ win over Sekhukhune in the Nedbank Cup final last term. Overall in that competition, he made four appearances, scoring twice and assisting once. So far in 2023-4, the 33-year-old former Rennes striker has made just six league appearances with no goals and no assists. With another injury-ravaged campaign hindering his game-time, could this be the beginning of the end for a player who once looked destined for the top?
