Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has publicly shared what many would agree is his most bizarre dream.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Mokwena said his dream is to work with former Kaizer Chiefs mentor Ernst Middendorp as his assistant.

In his own a words, Mokwena said he likes how Middendorp sees and does things as a coach, adding that he always calls him.

RHULANI ADMITS HE ADMIRES MIDDENDORP AND WANTS TO WORK WITH HIM

“It is still one of my dreams to be Ernst Middendorp’s assistant,” said Mokwena.

“Really, it is one of my dreams. I phone him a lot, he knows, I phone him a lot. I just talk to him. Just to talk to him because I like him, how he thinks and how he sees things.

“And since he came back from Thailand, you know he had that stint in Thailand [the former Chiefs coach worked as a Technical Director at Bangkok United from 2017 to 2018.] His way of seeing things is just amazing.”

“And it is still one of my dreams, I must tell you. To be his assistant coach. I hope he considers me as a colleague, I really, really do admire him. A lot, so much,” he concluded

HERE IS WHY MOKWENA’S DREAM IS BIZARRE

Firstly, Mokwena has proven himself to be one of the top coaches on the African continent after what he has achieved with Sundowns.

Moving from the Sundowns job, the 37-year-old mentor will be expected to move to a bigger and better club just like Pitso Mosimane in 2020.

And for him to even consider being an assistant at this stage of his career is what raised the eyebrows.

However, on the flip side of the coin, one can say Mokwena may be looking ahead – and Middendorp might be key to him moving abroad.

After all, the former Amakhosi man is well-connected and has worked many teams abroad, especially in Germany.

For Mokwena, the Sundowns coaching job really put him on the map as a coach after unsuccessful stints with Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.
