Former Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town City and Ajax Cape Town star Lebogang Manyama has explained the reason behind his abrupt decision to retire.

Manyama, 32-years-old, sent the local soccer scene into shockwaves on Friday morning by announcing his retirement.

And the former Bafana Bafana midfield maestro has explained the reasons behind his shock decision.

Why ex Kaizer Chiefs star retired?

“After being miraculously misdiagnosed with MCL and meniscus tears. I had torn my ACL and made it worse whilst rehabilitating the wrong places today marks a very sad day for me as I have to call time on my football chapter as a player.” there former Kaizer Chiefs star said on his Instagram official account as quoted by FarPost.

“But it’s one I take with my head held up high because never did I think I would be so blessed to showcase my talent. And meet so many wonderful souls along the way.

“For that, I want to thank my family for the undying support from when was a lil boy kicking about in Alex. Thanks to all the junior teams I played for in Alex and Balfour Park Football Club. (Topamax)

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Dumisani Zuma looks set to be a free agent once again.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic star was released by Chiefs at the end of last season due to reported disciplinary issues.

Football is an unforgiving sport, especially when it comes to discipline however AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu rushed to give the Amakhosi bad-boy a second chance.

Zuma however failed to re-pay his boss with anything on the field of play, scoring just one goal in 23 appearances for Usuthu.

The latest reports suggest the club have run out of patience with him and he’s on his way out at AmaZulu. Zuma spent just one season at the club, after joining them from Kaizer Chiefs.

“Dumisani Zuma is expected to leave AmaZulu upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June having failed to stop a disappointing trend about his game time contribution.” a SoccerLaduma report read.
