Reported Kaizer Chiefs target signs contract

We’ve seen this happen every single season around the world. A reported Kaizer Chiefs target has signed a new deal with SuperSport United.

SuperSport United have tied down a reported Kaizer Chiefs target. The name is Kegan Johannes.

REPORTS: KAIZER CHIEFS TARGET SUPERSPORT UNITED’S KEGAN JOHANNES

As previously reported, Amakhosi reportedly turned their attention towards the 23-year-old Johannes.

According to latest report, Kaizer Chiefs tracked Johannes for over a season. Amakhosi showed interest to sign the Bavis Lavis-raised star around the same time as former SuperSport captain Thatayone Ditlhokwe.

“The club is interested in Kegan (Johannes). They have been monitoring him for some time now and they would really want to have him at the start of the season,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“Even last season before signing Give Ditlhokwe and even Luke Fleurs, they [Chiefs] wanted get him and that’s why he is back on the radar now,” the source added.

The Cape Town Spurs graduate already has 72 games in South Africa’s premier division. Johannes, who can play at right-back as well as in central defence, has also represented the national U23 team on three ocassions.

NEW DEAL WITH SUPERSPORT

According to the latest update, the Kaizer Chiefs target has signed a new contract with SuperSport. “SuperSport United has extended the stay of defender Kegan Johannes for another two years after spending four years in the capital city,” iDiskiTimes reported.

“iDiskiTimes understands that SuperSport exercised a two-year option on Johannes which will keep him in the capital city until 2026.

“Speculation on Johannes’ future had been growing with reported interest from several clubs,” the outlet concluded.

In other news, the club are linked with technical team changes. The club’s Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung, confirmed a technical team restructure is in the pipeline.

 “It’s a something we communicated from the onset — Cavin [Johnson] has stepped in on an interim basis and we’re [committed] to having a different technical structure next season,” Motaung told TimesLIVE last week. “The plans have long been in motion — we’ll be having a different technical structure next season. At the appropriate time we’ll make the right announcements.”

Some of the reported targets include the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly legend Pitso Mosimane, Nasreddine Nabi, and Benni Mccarthy.
