In-form Kaizer Chiefs forward Pule Mmodi hopes his team will continue their winning run when they host Richards Bay on Saturday afternoon.

The speedy winger has been one of the team’s standout performers in his first season as a Glamour Boy.

His speed and quick feet have given Chiefs a dangerous threat down their left flank, and his winning goal in Amakhosi’s last outing, against Polokwane City, has further endeared him to the Amakhosi Faithful.

Since arriving at Naturena in pre-season, Mmodi has settled fairly well in his new surroundings.

“I am very happy to be here at Kaizer Chiefs. In the beginning, it was a challenge to adapt, given the status of Kaizer Chiefs. It is not easy to play for a Club like Kaizer Chiefs but I think things have been going well for me and I want to keep on giving my best to help us win and please the fans,” he was quoted on the Kaizer Chiefs website.

Mmodi has excited supporters with his deft footwork and has also weighed in with some important strikes, none more spectacular than his long range effort against AmaZulu, which was appropriately recognised by the PSL for its quality.

“I was very happy to win Goal-of-the-Month. It has given me the confidence to believe I can significantly contribute to the team, like getting a goal against Polokwane City, although I don’t think that will win Goal-of-the-Month,” he laughs.

Kaizer Chiefs face struggling Richards Bay at FNB stadium on Saturday in their penultimate fixture of 2023. The Natal Rich Boyz lie second from bottom in the DStv Premiership standings and lost their last match, 3-2, against Royal AM.

Mmodi believes Coach Cavin Johnson has devised the right game plan to come out on top.

“From what I have seen of them, they seem to play transitional football, and we have planned to deal with that. However, we are not so focused on how to stop the opponents but on our own game and how are going to go out and win,” he says.
