Orlando Pirates could be willing to part ways with one of their midfielders at the end of the current season.

Pirates will continue to bolster their squad at the end of the season, while also releasing some deadwood.

One of the positions they could look to revamp could be midfield, where they’re already stacked. Pirates boast the likes of Thabang MonareMiguel Timm and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo there. Furthermore, they have Makhahleni Makhaula , and Siphelo Baloni who have hardly had a look in this season. The overflowing midfield options, however, did not prevent them from dipping into the market to sign another player. They clinched the loan signing of former SuperSport United star Talent Mbatha

That is bound to add further pressure and doubt in the minds of midfielders who were already down the pecking order. One of those players is thought to be Fortune Makaringe. Makaringe was already linked with an exit from Pirates last season, with Sekhukhune United believed to be an interested party. In the end, he stayed at the club. It has not really worked out for the ex-Maritzburg United star however. He has only made 10 appearances in the league for the Buccaneers which has since the rumours come out again.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Sekhukhune are ready to return for Makaringe, with the Pirates star earmarked as a possible replacement.

Sekhukhune eye Pirates’ Makaringe signing?

“Jamie Webber is a good player who has done well for Sekhukhune United. It’s true that there’s interest in his services although the club hasn’t said anything about any plans to sell him. But true, Makaringe is one of the players that the club has been monitoring and he would be considered as a replacement,” said the source.

Pirates should only get stronger in midfield with the possible return of Goodman Mosele, and permanent signing of Mbatha. Therefore it would make sense for all parties for Makaringe to move on to Sekhukhune.
