Free State Stars have a mountain to scale in their bid to stay afloat, as they square off against title-hopefuls Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Ea Lla Koto are in a precarious position in 14th place on the league table, and anything less than maximum points could see them contesting the promotion/relegation playoffs at the very least, with an automatic drop also possible.

They come up against a side equally desperate for three points, with a record ninth title in their sights.

The Tshwane giants are two points clear of Orlando Pirates at the top of the table, and cannot afford a slip up, especially with the Wayne Arendse controversy hovering above them.

However, coach Pitso Mosimane has urged his charges to ignore the boardroom squabbles, and focus on their final push for the title.

“I told them go and try your best to win the league,” he is quoted on KickOff.

“Try to win in Free State. What ever happens, happens. For me, it’s beyond our control.

“It’s unbelievable at this point in time – one game left and still talking about this things.”
