PSL latest results, fixtures and log: AmaZulu stun Wits, Chiefs back in the bunch

The top thre clubs in the PSL log are all not in league action, giving the chasing pack a chance to gain valuable ground.

The coming weekend brings yet another round of PSL fixtures, as the title race hots up.

Two of the top teams are however taking a break from league action, but not for leisure as they focus their attention on continental competition.

Log leaders, Orlando Pirates and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns are both involved in Caf Champions League action, giving the chasing pack a chance to gain some ground.

First in action is this season’s surprise package, Polokwane City, who have a chance to get to within four points of the two former African champs when they host Lamontville Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.

At the same time, Highlands Park will want to bounce back from a defeat suffered in their last outing when they turn out against Baroka at Makhulong Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs are also in action on the day, and they will be looking to pile on more misery on the struggling Maritzburg United, who are unlikely to back down easily as they recorded a rare victory in their last outing.

Fourth-placed Bidvest Wits will want to make up some lost ground when they host AmaZulu late on Saturday night.

Sunday brings two fixtures, with Supersport United looking to stay in the title race by dispatching Free State Stars, while Black Leopards face Chippa United in a fight for survival.
