It is believed that, this time around, it will be no different between the two Soweto giants. This, of course, will inevitably see them clash for certain targets. According to reports, they’re already clashing for Stanley Nwabali, Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Riaan Hanamub and Shaune Mogaila. That does not seem to be where the list ends, however, with a new name set to be part of the tug-of-war.

Chiefs and Pirates fighting for Majogoro

Recently, Chiefs and Pirates were also believed to be going head-to-head for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan. Earlier in the year, this publication reported that both clubs were interested in Chippa United’s Baraka Majagoro. It was rumoured at the time, though, that both would miss out, as the Eastern Cape side were looking to renew his deal.

But now, according to then latest, Pirates have a trick up their sleeve to beat Chiefs. They are hoping to entice Chippa using one of their superstars in Monnapule Saleng! This according to a reaction from Soccer-Laduma.

“The talks are ongoing because Kaizer Chiefs also inquired about the same player (Majogoro) that Pirates would like to swap with Chippa so it will all depend on those talks but the Pirates deal looks more likely than the Chiefs one as there will be a player swap involved. In that way things become much easier than a straight buy. But it’s still early stages and anything could still happen whichever way it goes,” said the source.

Buccaneers to use Saleng to win the signature?

It’s believed both Majogoro and Saleng are willing to move away from Chippa and Pirates respectfully for a new challenge.

“If Chippa agree to Saleng then it will benefit both parties as Saleng was not happy this season as he didn’t play as much as he would have loved. He wanted to build on and continue the form from the other season but things didn’t work out for him and now he wants to get more game time once again and the exchange deal with Baraka (Majogoro) would be good for Saleng as well,” said the source.

It now remains to be seen if Chippa and Pirates can eventually agree on a swap between Majogoro and Saleng.
