Could Peter Shalulile be plotting to leave Mamelodi Sundowns?

Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile hasn’t featured in four matches now, and the technical team said he has a muscular complication.

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile hasn’t featured in four matches now, and the technical team said he has a muscular complication.

But could it be that Shalulile is plotting to leave Sundowns?

Shalulile recently signed a new and improved five-year deal with Sundowns which will run until June 2027. His previous deal was set to expire in June 2025.

Now, the latest developments regarding his absence has brought doubt to many Sundowns fans as they believe there is more to it than just a ‘muscular complication’.

This after a video clip of Shalulile started circulating on social media where the Sundowns marsksman confirmed his desire to leave South Africa.

In the video, Shalulile speaks to veteran journalist Sias du Plessis who asked him if he would ever consider following in the footsteps of Percy Tau by playing for another African team.

Shalulile responded by saying he has always wanted to leave Sundowns, and while he’s contracted for the next five years, he feels this could be the right time.

IS THERE MORE TO PETER SHALULILE’S ABSENCE THAN JUST A ‘MUSCULAR COMPLICATION’?

“I’m a person that always wanted to leave South Africa but you at this point in time you know… I guess my time has maybe arrived,” said Shalulile.

Shalulile, 29, has been Sundowns’ best centre-forward in many years as he’s scored 58 goals in just 95 appearances during his short stint with the club.

And with him out of action, Sundowns look very blunt upfront as he has become the focal point to their attacks.
