Ex Pirates star Makola signs for new club

Former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City midfielder Mpho Makola is back. His new club is in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City’s former player Mpho Makola has signed a new deal to continue his career at the age of 36.

MPHO MAKOLA JOINS POLOKWANE CITY

According to iDikistTimes’ leading reporter Sinethemba Makonco, the Alexandra-born player has put pen to paper to join Rise and Shine as they chase DStv Premiership promotion.

The report says the deal was signed after Makola impressed on trial over the past few weeks.

“Duncan Lechesa who is the head coach was impressed by the veteran midfielder and wanted him added into the squad,” the report said.

“According to iDiski Times sources, Makola has signed a short-term deal with Rise and Shine which is until the end of the season,” the report added.

FORMER PIRATES ANDILE JALI MISSES MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TRAINING

In other reports, Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali, who has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, was not spotted at Chloorkop on Thursday.

Following last week’s dramatic reports on attending training under the influence of alcohol, the DStv Premiership champions might be moving on from the former Pirates midfielder.

While Jali’s disciplinary report included his teammate Sipho Mbule, the 24-year-old did return to the team last weekend, while Jali did not. Additionally, the Matatiele-born player is yet to renew his contract with Sundowns before it expires in June. Read the full story here.
