Orlando Pirates are looking to remedy their goal scoring crisis by roping in a fresh face from their reserve side!

The Buccaneers have struggled in front of goal so far this season with no player netting more than four goals in the first half of the campaign.

Kwame Peprah and Deon Hotto are the only two Orlando Pirates that have managed to reach the four goal mark for Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.

The Buccaneers however have called on to their reserve side to help improve their goal scoring rate. It was first Boitumelo Radiopane that got promoted and now, a second striker has been handed a first team contract!

Orlando Pirates offer academy striker a first team contract!

According to reports, 17-year-old attacker Mohau Nkota has been offered a first team contract and will begin training with the Orlando Pirates first team in the coming days.

“The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Nkota has been handed a first team contract at the club and that he will be joining up with the Bucs first team when they resume action in February.” a SoccerLaduma report read.

“According to Siya sources the speedy striker will enjoy a similar role to the likes of Boitumelo Radiopane, Simiso Bophela and Thabiso Monyane where he will provide much-needed cover for the club’s first team if needs be, while turning out for the DStv Diski Challenge side to ensure game time.”

Who is Mohau Nkota?

“Nkota was a great finding for us but not only him, all the new players who have joined us this season. Mohau is a very energetic player always becomes a goal threat once in the field.” Orlando Pirates reserve coach Mandla Qhogi said

“Whenever he is in the final third, he thinks about taking shots, he possesses very good technical attributes in connecting with the ball and he is very intelligent in tactical behaviour to find the right spaces.

“He comes from Northern Cape in Kimberly, from a project done by Orlando Pirates in conjunction with Shield Sbonise idiski Challenge and Chelsea.

“This was a project that brought in Cassius Spandiel, Amogelang Matebesi. But because he (Nkota) was a very young at that time we asked a guy who’s working with Sol Platjie University to have a look at him by monitoring him until we brought him around April last year to join us.

“He played few games in our Gauteng Development League team to help him adapt to the Orlando Pirates playing style and while preparing him for this stage of the DStv Diski Challenge.”
